And so I wondered if my dreams could get any weirder. Turns out they can. And they do.
So, I had this dream one night last week :
I was sitting on a plane with my mother (it was white, I think), and the plane is moving forward on its wheels. Only, instead of taxiing the runway, it was on the road. More precisely, on the Pazhavanthangal subway in Chennai.
The destination of the flight was Paris, and I suddenly realized that I don't have a passport. I then told myself that as I was anyway inside the flight, I'd just wait until we landed at Paris and then see how the Authorities would react.
And by now I was sitting in the cockpit with the pilot, and we were on the platform at the Pazhavanthangal station, when the pilot stopped the plane. I asked him why he'd stopped, and he pointed to the train coming on the track next to the platform where we were.
And the airport was almost right there!
Anyway, at this point, I woke up and sat up laughing really hard.
I told my brother about the dream, and he asked me if I was sure I could distinguish between a bus and a plane!
Anyway, it's almost sleepy-time again, so goodnight!
(Psst! See you in Paris... when I land... there... ;) )
No wonder I ramble on, with a bright thought now & then :D

Where am I?
My prof claims I keep going home. (Ms.A will probably agree with him)
My family says I'm not home most of the time.
So, where am I all the time?
"Seems like I should be getting somewhere,
Somehow I'm neither here nor there..."

How to treat a princess : a step-by-step guide
1. Learn to recognize a princess when you come across one.
Sometimes, the Big Bad World might make a princess not advertise the fact that she is one, but you should still treat her like one!
2. Do the 'gentlemanly' acts - pulling out chairs for her to sit on, opening doors for her, getting her food to the table , well, you know, the works...
3. After dinner, escort her back, and ensure that she's back safe.
No, it isn't the same as her coming till your doorstep to say goodnight before leaving to go a long way back to her place.
4. Help her. Or at least, offer to help.
5. Remember that she's delicate, sweet and a whole lot of things which you can look up in a Thesaurus...
6. Protect her from dogs, if not dragons!
7. Remember that her choices are very good, be it a sports team, a book or a song ;)
(This was meant for JP, and since I'm very tired at the moment, please excuse me if the post was bad / boring...)
Until the next time, folks!

Stumped!
What on earth is this supposed to mean?
I know at least 10 other girls (including a guy :O) who had a crush on him.

Of some books and romance and what-nots
I seem to have finally gotten back to my reading after almost three months with hardly 20 books read.
So, my mother got me a couple of romances :) Just for the variety, I guess, given I'd been reading either Roald Dahl and kids' books or philosophical and psychological stuff. Or maybe because of the "Spanish" in the title, or because the book was set in Spain :) (Come on, who'd not die of curiosity to know what happened in "Spanish billionaire and innocent wife" or "The Spanish affair"? )
Anyway, I also had the extreme good fortune of reading "The wedding" by Nicholas Sparks. I'd been trying to recall why the name seemed so familiar, and once the people in the book started talking, I realized where :) Nor were the constant 'Noah-Allie' references totally lost on me. "The Notebook". Of course I should have remembered it at once, especially after the comic I read (will add the link once I remember where I'd read it).
And then I started wondering what it would be like if one of the characters actually came to life. Oh my god! The conversations. The advices. I almost wanted to scream "Stop!". Reading it was fun though - I thought each chapter was the soppiest stuff I'd read in a long time, only to know that the next one deserved the title more :)
Speaking of romance novels, I've been wondering why heroines are usually "chaste and pure and innocent", and have to worry about the hero who's often "well-travelled and obviously well-experienced". So, what does that make the women the hero sleeps with? Why do the heroes not want to remain "pure", too? :) Why does the heroine often try to hide her 'inexperience', and why does the hero get fooled so often, only to regret later and say, "I would have been gentler" or, "Why didn't you tell me?"
Oh, and I also read another book whose characters were involved in the Church or its activities. After a long time. For a change, it wasn't a nun or a priest falling in love. A rector trying to sort out his life after an unintended "night of passion", throw in some burglaries, murders, blackmail, suicides. You'd almost have had a good story, if you didn't have to make everyone oh so good, and tie up all the loose ends.
And the one about a couple of best friends. I'd mistaken it for this other book that's been on my wishlist, it was only after coming home and checking my list and the blurb that I realized the mistake. By then it was too late, and having nothing else to read one day last week, I started reading it. And hence had to finish it :) It might have actually been an okayish read, but it was kind of pretending to be a lot more than it was, and I felt it was a "wannabe" book...
Anyway, RS has promised to lend me a book, and so has MV.
I also have the Shiva trilogy to finish, having started it. And yes, I'm interested in science, and want to learn more about radio-wave communication, nuclear fission and fusion and missiles and weapons. And of course I want to know what happened to Shiva's soul :) I want to know if he did "spread the life" ;) Plus, I want to experience "Amar Chitra Katha on steroids", and "the Indian LOTR" :D
(That book-bashing session was fun, RS ;) And I hope you audition and win the role of Shiva - you can actually do the "Sati" thing before a much bigger audience :P )
That's it. Off to do a spot of reading. Of the more academic kind...
Adios, folks!

Of this and that
Last night , SM told me that my brother was a nice guy :) I must remember to thank her for the ammunition ;) I called my brother this evening and told him , "unna romba nallavannu sollitaalae!"
Just then, L called, and as usual, verified whether I had eaten something, before getting on with the conversation. I told her I'd just been called "pretty", and she said, "So, whoever it was, was he blind until now?" And I told her she was always in my enemy's camp :D Why, she even once told me I shouldn't be leaving behind a trail of broken hearts. Now, why on earth would I do that? Anyway, I'm no heart-breaker, to be a serial one at that :)
And today, I spoke to PM. I think he's becoming telepathic or a mind-reader. I was just thinking it's been a while since we spoke, and that I should be calling him, though I thought he must be on his way home by then. And a couple of minutes later, he called me, and told me what I had just been thinking :D
On an unrelated note, my fingers seem to be forever poised and ready to do a Ctrl+S :) The effect of all the programming, I guess :)
And last night, I had a longish chat with NV. And she said "Chee... you're fishing for compliments" :) And then she said a couple of words in Spanish!!!
Speaking of Spanish, I wrote my first Spanish blogpost last night. As of now, I'm sharing it with only B, and maybe I'll let others read it when I'm a bit more confident and a bit less careless...
And I seem to be on the verge of getting into Russian music for a while now. But let's see. I've to get "Ensename a olvidar" and "Cada vez" out of my head first :P
So, I guess it's time to leave.

Yet another rant
I met AJ today, after a long time. I had a great time, and it felt good talking to him. (I don't know if he had a good time too, though I think he was entertained for a few minutes at least, as I told him What I Did In December :P ). When I'd called him, he told me he'd just gotten back from playing football.
Earlier in the evening, I went to have some coffee, and what do I see? Some guy wearing a T-shirt with "Ronaldo" written on the back, with a 7 below it.
Why? Oh why?
And why rub it in?
First, I stay up until 4:20 A.M. to watch the match. (I even wore my lucky dress to support my team!) I wanted to watch the whole match, but it was too frustrating and well, also a bit painful. I went to bed in the hope that the last 10 minutes would have altered the score (in favour of my team!), but alas... When I was woken up at 7:15, I couldn't wait to check the score. Suffice it to say that my Sunday didn't exactly have a great start (after the morning cuppa, that is...)
To lose, and through an own goal at that! (I did read a lot of comments on how Ronaldo scored the one goal of the match, but at the wrong net, and whether this goal would count in the tally for the Pichichi). I've seen quite a few matches with unexpected turn of events, leading me to believe that "it isn't over until it is over". Maybe, like NV, I should get used to the 'ups and downs' of my team.
And to think that my team will be up against Barca and ManU soon... I'm hoping they don't disappoint me yet again.
Now, that puts me in a Clasico with G :) And now AP :P
Anyway, here's hoping that my team doesn't let me down again. It's been hectic, I know. I felt like it was just now that they were playing Barca, and the next moment, they were against Granada!
Adios, folks...
(P.S. : Maybe lack of sleep does leave me rant-prone!)
